Singer/songwriter/musician Dan Manjovi celebrates the release of his latest CD, Woke Up This Morning, with a special show accompanied by his full-band at one of New York's most famous music rooms The Bitter End on Wednesday, April 30th at 8:00pm. Admission is $15.00.
Woke Up This Morning has been described in early reviews as "Provocative…filled with thrills…a true gem" by Jed Ryan of PM Entertainment Magazine. And Alyssa Rashbaum (MTV, SPIN, VIBE) wrote: "Manjovi is both a compelling storyteller and surprisingly clever composer."
Woke Up This Morning is currently in rotation at several local and syndicated stations. On QnationFM Dan's song "Give 'Em What You Got (Takin' It Back) which confronts homophobic Dance Hall performer Buju Banton won handily in that station's New Music Playoffs. And on WKJCE TGLBT Radio, six songs from Woke Up This Morning are among the Top 20 listener requested songs. The show will highlight songs from the new CD, favorites from Dan's 2005 debut CD, Dan Manjovi, and a surprise cover tune or two.
Manjovi is a New York City favorite, appearing both solo or with his top-flight band to packed houses at New York's major music rooms including Canal Room, The Cutting Room and The Bitter End among others. His music and sound has been described as a cross between Elton John, John Mayer and The Beatles. Dan was a featured artist at the 2006 Tribeca Film Festival/ASCAP Music Lounge, where he appeared with John Mayer, Nellie McKay and Elvis Costello among others. He has also backed singers Grace Hightower De Niro and Donna Summer in memorable shows at The Café Carlyle and The Beacon Theater. In 2007, Manjovi and his band played sold-out shows at The Bitter End, Arlene's Grocery and Rockwood Music Hall. During the summer of 2007, Dan played an unprecedented return two-week engagement by popular demand at Bryant Park's Piano In The Park Concert Series.
