Bartok: String Quartet No. 2
Ali-Zade: Ney-Nava
Armenian folk songs with visuals
Musicians from Yo-Yo Ma's SILK ROAD ENSEMBLE gather for an evening of music involving string quartet, ney (traditional Persian flute) and visuals. An exploration of culture and music from the Middle East to Eastern Europe, this will be the only New York concert for this group of young musicians.
For those who prefer the low ceilings of nightclubs to the chandeliers and red carpets of New York ’s concert halls, there is Makor’s Classical Café, now in its seventh season. Classical Café presents great music by classical composers in 45-minute concerts, performed by promising young musicians. Although many of the performers have appeared on the world’s major stages, they visit Makor to create a more intimate and immediate musical experience. [Curator: Eric Jacobsen]
