Ever wanted to get eye to eye with a snake
or nose to nose with a chinchilla? If so, you're in luck! The Central
Park Zoo is delighted to announce the second installment of its wildly
successful "Meet the Creature" program. Every Thursday in October from
3 P.M. to 3:30 P.M. in the Zoo's Gallery, our talented and entertaining
educators will host an exciting afternoon session complete with
Wildlife Theater performances, live animal presentations, and perhaps even a
few of our popular puppet friends.

October 12 highlights scaly critters like turtles and snakes, October
19 features furry friends like the chinchilla and a rabbit, and the
Halloween themed October 26 boasts creepy crawlies like tarantulas and the
Madagascar hissing cockroach. Kids can actually get hands-on with some
of these fascinating creatures.

"Meet the Creature" is free with admission to the Zoo and takes place
in the Zoo's gallery on Thursdays in October from 3 P.M. to 3:30 P.M.
While there, Zoo-goers can sign up for more information on some of the
Zoo's fascinating education programs, camps, and sleepovers.

The Central Park Zoo, a Wildlife Conservation Society park, is located
at 64th Street and Fifth Avenue. Admission is $8 for adults, $4 for
senior citizens, $3 for children 3 to 12, and free for children under 3.
Admission includes entry into the main zoo, and the Tisch Children's
Zoo. Summer hours are 10A.M. to 5P.M. weekdays, and to 5:30P.M.on weekends
and holidays. Tickets are sold until one half-hour before closing. For
further information, please call 212-439-6500 or visit

The Wildlife Conservation Society saves wildlife and wild lands. We do
so through careful science, international conservation, education, and
the management of the world's largest system of urban wildlife parks,
led by the flagship Bronx Zoo. Together, these activities change
individual attitudes toward nature and help people imagine wildlife and humans
living in sustainable interaction on both a local and a global scale.
WCS is committed to this work because we believe it essential to the
integrity of life on Earth. To learn more about
