October’sNextNext Music festival showcases the next generation ofmusicians who, in the spirit of the Next Wave Festival, are paving radicaland new musical paths.
Keyboard, bass, and drum trio The Fabulous Entourage, joined by two Supremes-style female vocalists, have earned a cult following with their over-the-top live shows, including notable performances at the 2006 Whitney Biennial, the Knitting Factory, Viper Room, and an infamous “floating concert” aboard a boat ferried around the Statue of Liberty. They frequently share the stage with a coterie of talented guest musicians and downtown performance superstars including Julie Atlas Muz, Rob Roth, and the Varsity Interpretive Dance Squad. A local glam-rock sensation, their recently released debut album, Play Nice Now, has been deemed “enthralling” by Paper Magazine, and promises a night of raucous power pop theatrics.
