The annual West Indian Day Parade is the closest to Mardi Gras in the Big Apple.  You'll find costume bands, masqueraders, hundreds of colorful floats and much more lining Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn for this annual Labor Day event.  You'll also find lots of music and traditional West Indian Foods.

Best viewing is from the Brooklyn Museum to Grand Army Plaza.  With more than 2 million people expected to attend, it's best to leave the car at home and take the train. For more information call 718-467-1797. This event is organized by the West Indian American Day Carnival Association.
