Neighborhood: Greenwich Village Type of Place: Cookbooks Description: I was in search of a replacement for my "Joy of Cooking" cookbook that fell apart after years of overuse when I stumbled onto Bonnie Slotnick Cookbooks. The shop is located in the front room of an apartment, complete with a cute little dog, and stacked high with wall-to-wall cookbooks. Unfortunately, my 1970s request may be a little too modern, but I was offered a 1940 hardcover edition, as well as a 1937 version, and left with some helpful information. Bonnie also took down my phone number, promising to call should my request surface. The shop has thousands of books to choose from, many with recipes lost in time. There are also select antiques to be had, but it's the dedication to cookbooks that offers this recipe for success! Bonnie Slotnick Cookbooks is open from 1-7pm most days, but shoppers are advised to call ahead. - Sam Sayegh
