This prime rooftop lounge rests atop the currently in vogue Dream Hotel Downtown. It calls to trend seekers and low-key partiers of a more subtle New York nightlife scene. PhD is flanked by a beautiful terrace decorated with outdoor sofas and tables perfect for lounging with friends and having some drinks. In the summertime, a better evening cannot be found beneath the backdrop of a gorgeous New York City skyline. The terraces, covered in cooler weather, still offer the view as well as warmth. Drinks here remain appropriately overpriced. However, if you make it through the door, you probably will not see this as a negative. Wet Dream and Dream Girl are my cocktail recommendations for vibrant flavor that truly compliments the atmosphere. Many lounge food favorites are on the menu and they are actually delicious. Not many customers can resist the tender buffalo chicken meatball sliders. Yet another wildly successful spot run by the masterminds of Strategic Group (the machine that brings Tao, Marquee, and Lavo), PhD is the more relaxed location to have a drink and enjoy a beautiful space. Come by if your in the mood for good music and taste of the good life, especially if you are visiting the city. PhD has a view and an experience that anyone can appreciate. - Rachel Sult
