Cititour Review:

The Garage Restaurant and Cafe in Greenwich Village is one of my favorite spots to kick back, have a drink, and listen to live jazz.   They offer it seven nights a week and many times there isn't even a cover charge.  I like to stop in when I'm in the neighborhood, on my own, or with friends.  The bar is huge and looks directly out to the stage.  Guests at the dinner tables also get a great view of the performances.  I especially like that the staff is friendly and there's always someone at the bar willing to carry on a conversation with me.  It's a laid back place and dress is casual, but it does have an upscale feel.

Mostly I just come here for the music, but the food isn't half bad either.  They offer lunch, dinner, and a jazz brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 11-4.  Dinner selections include a nice assortment of appetizers, a raw bar, and a variety of salads.  Because it's located in an area with loads of tourists, however, the entrees are pricey, with most over $25.  One entree worth trying is the Grilled Steak Frites, but I'm not too crazy about their calamari.  Brunch is $16.95 and the menu is impressive.  For $6.00 more you get unlimited Screwdrivers, Mimosas, and Bloody Marys.

The Garage Restaurant and Cafe does a good job of combining a live music venue with decent food.  It's a bit overpriced, but it's a comfortable spot in a lively neighborhood location.  If you're a fan of jazz, it's worth stopping in.
