Cititour Review:

I love soup.  It truly does warm the soul on a chilly winter's day, or any day for that matter.  But finding good, hearty soups can be hard to find.  Which brings us to Grand Bo Ky on the border of Chinatown and Little Italy.

Do not expect to find beautiful surroundings.  Or people who speak very good English.  What you will find are delicious soups and other Chinese and Vietnamese delicacies that will delight the senses.

We stopped in for a bowl of Jumbo Shrimp Noodle Soup ($5).  First off, the bowl is an entire meal, or if you're sharing, could easily feed two.  It's loaded with tiger shrimp and thick bands of noodles (rice or egg) and bits of ground pork.  It's topped with some fresh cilantro and is truly a pleasure to eat.

Grand Bo Ky is also known for is freshly prepared meats (you'll see some hanging in the window) served on rice.  The braised country style duck ($9.75 half / $5.75 quarter) is outstanding.  Plump, juicy, and very tasty.  Be prepared to navigate some bones, which we recommend you do.

There are also lots of other choices, including barbecued pork chops ($7.50), lemongrass beef steak ($8.25), beef belly ($5.00), and Viet Nam spring rolls ($6.50).  The dumpling soup ($4.75) is also a favorite.

So, if you're searching for some good cheap eats in the heart of Chinatown you won't go wrong with a stop at Grand Bo Ky.
