Bruni/Chodorow Chowdown Challenge!
March 6, 2007, 8:45.11 pm ET
Details

It's been fun watching the very public feud between restaurateur Jeffrey Chodorow and New York Times restaurant critic Frank Bruni (after Bruni goosed Chodorow with zero stars for his Kobe Club and its dangling samurai swords). Chodorow responded by taking out a full-page ad in the Times along with scathing criticism of Bruni on his blog. Chodorow taking aim at Bruni's recent review of Robert's steakhouse at the Penthouse Club, which got one star from Bruni. Chodorow asks, "Do boobs go better with steak than swords?"

Cititour.com thinks it's time to bury the hatchet. We'll spring for a chowdown between Chodorow and Bruni at a neutral location, the Spotted Pig, minus any sharp utensils. Maybe after a good meal both sides will shake hands and end this foolishness.

The Anti-Starbucks?

Details

Walking into MUD, or mudspot as it is known, it became clear just how anti-Starbucks this place really is. From the message of peace posted on a blackboard outside to its funky red lighting, and its wooden bar with glowing crystals, to its crowd that looks like something out of the 60s (I was waiting for Billy Jack to walk in) I was taken back for a moment. But after one sip I was a believer again. Peace, love and java baby.
