Held nearly every year since 1984, Fleet Week New York is the city's celebration of the sea services. It provides an opportunity for regular folks to meet Sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen, as well as see, first-hand, the latest capabilities of today's maritime services. More than 4,500 service men and women from the U.S. and foreign nations are arriving aboard the ships.
Participating Fleet Week ships can be viewed at Pier 86, Pier 88 and Pier 92 in Manhattan, and Sullivan's Pier on Staten Island from 8am to 5pm daily.
Other activities include guided tours, displays, demonstrations and musical performances.
