The Museum of Modern Art presents Lillie P. Bliss and the Birth of the Modern, an exhibition celebrating the legacy of Lillie P. Bliss, a founder of MoMA and a pivotal advocate for modern art in the United States. Marking the 90th anniversary of Bliss’s transformative bequest to the Museum, the exhibition features around 40 works, including Cézanne’s The Bather and Modigliani’s Anna Zborowska, alongside archival materials. Organized by Ann Temkin and Romy Silver-Kohn, the show highlights Bliss’s profound influence on the reception of modern art and the establishment of MoMA.
