Brooklyn Kura, NYC’s first and only sake brewery, is teaming up with TJ Provenzano and chef Jeff Miller (formerly of Mayanoki) to host an intimate 15-course omakase dinner and sake pairing starting on Tuesday, 10/15 and Wednesday, 10/16. The pop-up offers an exclusive look at Miller and Provenzano’s upcoming restaurant concept, Union Sushi Co.

The meal, prepared by chef Jeff Miller, will feature local and sustainably-sourced sushi and seafood. Miller loves to experiment and his ever-changing menu showcases domestic and underappreciated species through unexpected flavor pairings such as bluefish with garlic and chilies, trout with pickled shallots, and kingfish with sunflower seeds. Chef Miller will also serve a laksa made with leftover fish bones, head, and trim.

Throughout the evening, Brooklyn Kura’s resident sake sommelier, Sam Barickman, will be pouring the brewery’s signature offerings – plus a few special surprises from TJ Provenzano’s Rooftop Reds!

There will be two dinner seatings at 6:30pm and 9:00pm. Tickets for the dinner are $150 per person with an optional sake pairing and will be sold via Eventbrite.

The pop-up will occur in tandem with Brooklyn Kura’s recently-launched Friday night raw bar, featuring sustainable seafood paired with Brooklyn Kura’s complex sake offerings. Think ceviche (sustainably-sourced fluke, fresh cucumber, dill, creamy avocado) and Montauk Scallops (served sashimi style with fennel purée and shiso leaf).

As part of Brooklyn Kura’s ongoing sake programming, they will also be hosting an informal, educational sake tasting with the brewery’s resident sake sommeliers on Thursday, October 17th. Tickets ($30) can be purchased via Eventbrite.
