Band Bio: It’s so comically familiar, it must be the opening line of an old joke: a couple of wide-eyed 19-year-old kids, who believe a bad idea should never stop you, go on to start a rock band. But here we are, a decade and several foolish ideas later, and Boston-area rock n’ roll band Aloud shows no signs of slowing down. Helmed by longtime songwriting partners and husband-and-wife team Henry Beguiristain (lead vocals/guitars) and Jen de la Osa (lead vocals/guitars), the four piece rock n’ roll band is buttressed by bassist/backup dancer Charles Murphy and drummer Frank Hegyi. From a humble start in a one-bedroom republic in the Fenway back in May 2002, Aloud has gone on to record three studio albums — with a fourth in the oven — and crisscross the country on several independent tours.

Aloud’s new 7-inch single “You Will Know” has made waves in New England. The song charted on WZLX’s Top Five for five weeks in a row after a limited radio-only release. “You Will Know” was recorded for the BANDED project under the auspices of Berklee City Music’s Berklee PULSE, a nonprofit education program which provides free music education for underserved 4th to 12th graders. “You Will Know” and its formidable b-side, “Such A Long Time”, were recorded at Mad Oak Studio in Allston, Massachusetts, by producer Benny Grotto. Both tracks were mastered by Grammy™-nominated engineer Jeff Lipton (Spoon, The Love Language, Arcade Fire, Wild Flag) at Peerless Mastering.

Aloud’s previous offering, the studio album Exile, was released to critical acclaim. Vastly different from Fan The Fury — its widely praised predecessor — Exile eschewed the blood-and-thunder bombast the band had become known for in favor of a more austere sound, lush arrangements, and rich lyrical imagery. Aloud performed close to 100 shows behind Exile, including multiple stops at the SXSW and CMJ music festivals. The massive 42 state tour was realized with little more than the backing of their growing fan base, one which funded both the album and the four month U.S. tour.

Aloud is currently in the studio with producer Charles Newman (Future Bible Heroes, Magnetic Fields) and Benny Grotto recording their fourth full-length record, It’s Got To Be Now.
