A specially filmed version of the acclaimed Off-Broadway musical, “A Letter to Harvey Milk” will be presented as a benefit online beginning April 22 at 7pm and running through April 25. Money raised from ticket sales will benefit both The Actors Fund and HIAS.
The show, which is set in San Francisco in 1986, focuses on Harry an amiable but lonely retired kosher butcher. When Harry fulfills a writing assignment to compose a letter to someone from his past who is dead, he writes not to his late wife Frannie but Harvey Milk, the first openly gay political leader in California. Harry's letter evokes unforeseen and life-changing revelations.
The show features music by Laura I. Kramer, lyrics by Ellen M. Schwartz, with additional lyrics by Cheryl Stern, and a book by Jerry James, Laura I. Kramer, Ellen M. Schwartz, and Cheryl Stern. It is directed by Evan Pappas with music direction by Jeffrey Lodin and orchestrations by Ned Ginsburg.
The production stars Adam Heller, Julia Knitel, Cheryl Stern, Michael Bartoli, Jeremy Greenbaum, Aury Krebs and Ravi Roth
Tickets are $10-$50 and can be purchased by visiting StellarTickets.com.
