Five Boro Bike Tour Rolls Through NYC – Sunday, May 5
Over 30,000 cyclists will pedal their way through all five boroughs this Sunday for the annual TD Five Boro Bike Tour, starting at 7:30 AM in Lower Manhattan and ending at Fort Wadsworth in Staten Island. Expect closures on major roadways including the Gowanus Expressway, FDR Drive, and the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge (lower level, Staten Island-bound). Wave start times run from 7:30 AM to 10:30 AM—so plan your commute accordingly and cheer them on from the sidelines.
Blessing of the Bicycles – Saturday, May 4
Rev up your weekend with a bit of spiritual protection. On Saturday at 9 AM, St. John the Divine hosts its 27th annual Blessing of the Bicycles. Cyclists of all backgrounds are invited to gather inside the cathedral for this free, heartwarming ceremony that includes bell ringing, a blessing for safe travels, and a moment of silence for riders lost.
Grand Army Turns 10 with a Brooklyn Block Party – Sunday, May 5
Beloved Boerum Hill bar Grand Army is celebrating a decade of cocktails with a blowout block party from 2–10 PM. Expect flash tattoos, throwback drinks from past beverage directors and current head bartender, limited-edition merch, and those limited edition 10-year to-go cups to keep the party flowing.
