Queer style platform dapperQ returns to the Brooklyn Museum to present Nine, the ninth annual edition of New York Fashion Week’s largest LGBTQIA+ fashion show. Kick off the evening with a happy hour hosted by Henrietta Hudson, New York City’s longest-standing brick-and-mortar lesbian bar, and peruse pop-up shops before the runway showcase. Catch it Thursday, September 5 from 6–11 pm at the Beaux-Arts Court on the 3rd Floor. Tickets are $20.

Looking for a Labor Day Weekend getaway, try the Magic Hour's 70’s inspired retro beach pop-up: Magic Hour Surf Club decked out with eclectic surfboards, accents of sunflowers and seagrass, and Cabana seating. The Instagram-worthy rooftop is serving up summer-inspired sips and bites such as a 2-Foot-Long Coney Island Hot Dog, Jumbo NYC Pretzel, Grilled Boozy Pineapple, along with the This Ain't Texas frozen margarita served in a cowboy boot vessel.

New York Festival of Song kicks off its 2024-2025 season with the 15th annual NYFOS Next Festival on September 29 at 3 pm at the Rubin Museum of Art. There are two concerts this season, the first, titled Learning, Fast and Slow, features soprano Britt Hewitt and mezzo-soprano Blythe Gaissert, with Steven Palacio on bassoon and Nathaniel LaNasa on piano performing works by Kamala Sankaram and LJ White. The Next Series returns on Sunday, Nov 3 with a program titled A Space to Make, also at the Rubin Museum of Art.

Rid yourself of the Sunday Scaries with Beers & BBQ to finish the weekend right. On Sunday, September 15th from 12pm, Australian chef & NYC-based Alistair McMurray (previously Eleven Madison Park, Bar Boulud London) will be popping up at Layla (235 Bedford Ave) in Williamsburg, Brooklyn in a collaboration with TALEA Beer. Guests can expect shared plates by Chef Alistair paired with a refreshing selection of beers from TALEA Beer Co. all in Layla's quaint back patio. Reservations via Resy.

Last season’s Only Murders in the Building featured a star-studded cast. But the season MVP wasn’t Meryl Streep or Jesse Williams – it was Schmackary's Death Rattle Red Velvet Cookies. Cookie lovers can visit the website to place their orders. In-store, The Death Rattle Red Velvet cookie will be available all day Monday and Tuesday ONLY (August 26th and 27th). Each cookie is $4.25, and there is a six-cookie limit per person.

Children’s book author and illustrator Melissa Iwai will lead a reading and hands-on cooking class at Market 57’s PLATFORM inside Pier 57 on September 15 from 10 – 11:30am. As part of “Storytime and Dumpling Class,” children will have the chance to create and taste their own dumplings inspired by recipes from around the world. Melissa will also read two of her books, Dumplings For Lili and Pizza Day, which participants will be able to purchase and have signed. Tickets are available for children ages 4-12 for $25 here.

Times Square Alliance is announcing its entertainment lineup for the return of Taste of Times Square on Monday, September 9th from 5-9 pm. It includes Jasmine’s Caribbean Cuisine’s own steel pan player and band; Ellen’s Stardust Diner’s Stardusters featuring Broadway showstoppers; Havana Central’s high-energy Latin music and Salsa by Sonido Costeño; Lagos TSQ’s West-African Fusion DJ; and more. this year’s Taste of Times Square will also feature tastes from 30 participating restaurants. Soon-to-open So&So’s, the neighborhood piano-bar-meets-supper-club at Romer Hell’s Kitchen, is hosting a public outdoor piano audition at the corner of 8th ave and 52nd street from 12pm-4pm on Tuesday, 9/3. An upright piano will be situated right outside the clandestine So&So’s blue door entrance, inviting passersby and aspiring musicians alike to sit down and showcase their talent. Everyone is welcome to swing by.

And looking for that perfect bite? British steak restaurant Hawksmoor in Gramercy Park is now offering its Notorious B.E.E.F., an LTO, bar-only burger special which includes: Two dry-aged beef patties, Hawksmoor special sauce, Velveeta cheese slices, Shredded lettuce, Onions and Homemade pickles for 25 bucks. Or, Deluxe it by adding Hawksmoor's Shaky Pete's Ginger Brew (Keeper's Heart Whiskey, Lemon juice, Ginger, London Pride) and Beef Fat Fries for $45.
