Canto Opens Its Red Doors in the West Village

The flavors of Italy in a picturesque setting have arrived at Canto in the West Village. From its flower-covered Vespa to its dining room with lots of natural woods and exposed brick, Canto pays homage to its Italian roots.
Italian specialties include Sicilian-style rice balls stuffed with mozzarella, seared scallops with a cauliflower-carrot puree, veal meatballs in tomato sauce and slow-cooked short ribs served with roasted potatoes.
Pastas bring house-made ravioli filled with butternut squash, fusilli with pesto Genovese, and potato gnocchi with truffled parmesan cream. Diners will also discover sautéed veal scallopini, Tuscan-style skirt steak, and baked salmon with spinach and tomato concasse. Finish the meal with a slice of ricotta cheesecake or maybe an affogato.
Cocktails also offer plays on authentic Italian ingredients. There is the Monte Carlo (Vodka, Thyme, Lemon, Campari, Prosecco), Tea Party (Mezcal, Earl Grey, Bergamot Liqueur, Demerara, Lemon), and The Bella Canto (Gin, Egg White, Butterfly Pea Flower, Chamomile, Italicus Bergamot Liqueur, Lemon, Prosecco/above). The restaurant also has an extensive wine list.
Canto is located at 117 Perry St, New York, NY (315) 257-5473
