Acclaimed Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto will serve as Grand Marshal of this year’s Japan Parade, returning to Central Park West on Saturday, May 10 at 1pm. To mark the occasion, Chef Morimoto is introducing a limited-time dish and cocktail at his Manhattan restaurant, Momosan (342 Lexington Ave), available beginning April 26 through parade day.

For the special, Morimoto puts a twist on the traditional Japanese okonomiyaki, adding prosciutto, red onions, cherry tomatoes, jalapeños, and olives for a version that reflects both Japanese flavors and New York’s diverse food culture. “This dish captures the heart of Japanese street food while embracing the bold, unexpected flavors that make New York City the cultural melting pot that it is,” says Morimoto.

Also being offered is The Last Petal, a seasonal cocktail designed to evoke the spirit of the cherry blossom season. Light, floral, and slightly effervescent, it’s a celebratory sip that complements the occasion.

The Japan Parade, now in its fourth year, celebrates the friendship between Japan and New York City with live performances, cultural displays, and the Japan Street Fair, taking place concurrently on West 72nd Street. The street fair, called Japan Fes, will feature Japanese food, crafts, and activities for all ages.
