It’s official – New York City is about to sparkle a little brighter this holiday season. The 2024 Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree, a majestic 74-foot Norway spruce, rolled into the city yesterday on a flatbed truck from West Stockbridge, Massachusetts. Weighing in at a whopping 11 tons, the towering evergreen made its grand entrance at Rockefeller Plaza, sparking excitement as locals and tourists gathered to catch a glimpse of this year’s holiday centerpiece.

A team of riggers and crane operators carefully maneuvered the tree off the truck and into position in front of 30 Rock, as crowds watched with cell phones at the ready. For those who couldn’t be there, CJ, fondly known as the “Mayor of Rockefeller Center,” proudly posed in front of the wrapped-up spruce. This scene marked the beginning of a time-honored tradition that culminates with the tree lighting ceremony, set for Wednesday, December 4.

Lifting the tree into place was no easy feat. Crews worked meticulously, securing ropes and supports to ensure the tree would stand proudly above the bustling plaza. As the crane hoisted the spruce high in the air, it seemed to float for a moment before settling into its spot – soon to be adorned with thousands of twinkling lights and a dazzling Swarovski crystal star.

For now, the tree stands in Rockefeller Center, awaiting its transformation into a holiday beacon for the city. It’s not yet dressed in its seasonal splendor, but the evergreen promises a dazzling show once the decorations are up and lights switched on. And on December 4, when the switch is finally flipped, millions will tune in to witness the start of another New York City holiday season. [VIDEO]
