There was no shortage of exciting places to dine in 2024. Here are our top 25!

1. Alessa

Alessa, in Midtown’s vibrant Penn District, elevates Italian dining with a menu that seamlessly blends tradition and innovation. Executive Chef Denevin Miranda’s creations range from house-made pizzas and indulgent antipasti like stuffed Crimini Caps stuffed with blue crab to signature dishes for two, including Squid Ink Linguine with Lobster, and Bistecca Alla Fiorentina. 2. Ánimo!

In Midtown East, Ánimo! brings the vibrant breakfast traditions of Mexico to New York City. Founder Roberto Levinson, inspired by his Monterrey roots, delivers bold flavors through chilaquiles, molletes, barbacoa and egg tacos, and freshly baked conchas. Thoughtfully designed by Jordana Maisie Design, the space showcases Mexican craftsmanship with sapele wood tables, handmade tiles, and colorful murals. Ánimo! invites diners to start their day with an authentic taste of Mexico, infused with heartfelt hospitality and culinary excellence.

3. Bar Madonna

Bar Madonna, a vibrant Italian-American cocktail bar in Williamsburg, combines art, fashion, and storytelling with its inventive approach to classic Italian flavors. Co-founded by industry veterans Eric Madonna and Ray Rando, the bar features creative cocktails like the Madonna Bellini and Brooklyn Special, alongside elevated bar fare such as Smashed Meatball Parm and Lamb Spiedino. Designed by Catarina Guimarães with contributions from KidSuper, the space exudes energy, enhanced by playful artwork and a hip-hop-infused soundtrack. 4. Burmese Harp

Burmese Harp in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, celebrates the bold, vibrant flavors of Myanmar through dishes that highlight the country's diverse culinary influences. Signature plates like Pickled Tea Salad and Mohinga showcase a perfect harmony of textures and aromatics, while heartier offerings such as the Kyae Ohh Garlic Noodle stir fry provide satisfying depth.

5. Carta

Located in the heart of the West Village, Carta is a Mediterranean-inspired wine bar and market that exudes warmth and conviviality. Helmed by Wine Director Rebecca Powelson, the curated wine list celebrates organic and biodynamic selections from family-owned producers across the Mediterranean, perfectly paired with Chef George Guzman’s tapas menu featuring Pan con Tomate, Gambas al Ajillo, and Basque cheesecake. Cocina Consuelo, a labor of love from Lalo Rodriguez and Karina Garcia, brings the soulful flavors of Puebla to Harlem at 130 Hamilton Place. DelBianco Prime in Midtown Manhattan offers a refined blend of Northern Italian cuisine and classic steakhouse indulgence. 10. Hot Soup & Bad Larry’s Sandwiches

Hot Soup & Bad Larry’s Sandwiches on Orchard Street offers a comforting treat. 11. Kinjo

Tucked under the Manhattan Bridge at 11 Adams Street, Kinjo is DUMBO's newest gem—a 13-seat omakase counter and cocktail lounge led by Chef and Co-Owner Johnny Huang, a Masa alum with 17 years of mastery in kaiseki, kappo, and omakase. The 11-course menu highlights East Asian flavors with dishes like Kumamoto oysters with ikura and koji-cured duck with pineapple hoisin, while the inventive cocktails, including a custom sake collaboration with Brooklyn Kura, elevate the experience. With its industrial-chic design by KIMOY Studios, Kinjo (meaning "neighborhood" in Japanese) is destined to become a local favorite.

KRAAM, a new arrival in Nomad, introduces Chef/Owner Pongsathorn Thinnuch’s innovative take on Thai cuisine, blending traditional flavors with modern interpretations.
