After more than a decade in the West Village and six years in Gotham West Market, dell’anima is making a triumphant return to its original neighborhood. Opening June 6 at 18 Cornelia Street, the reimagined Italian restaurant is led by longtime partners Executive Chef Andrew Whitney, General Manager Danir Rincon, and Jacob Cohen—each with deep roots in the original dell’anima team since the early 2000s.

The new 52-seat space brings back what fans loved most: handmade seasonal pastas and bold, shareable dishes. Signature pasta offerings include Garganelli with peaky toe crab and lemony breadcrumbs, Tajarin alla Carbonara with speck and raw egg yolk, and Bucatini alla Arrabiata with Calabrian chiles. Classics like Bone Marrow with braised testa and Branzino in Cartoccio round out a menu that balances comfort and craft.

Beverage Director Danir Rincon curates a cocktail list inspired by Italian spirits and ingredients. Highlights include the Roasted Orange Negroni Spagliato with charred oranges marinated in sweet vermouth, and The Sicilian Way, a surprising mix of sweet vermouth, espresso, and tonic. The wine list leans heavily Italian with select French, American, and natural producers.

Designed by Alice Tai (AWT Architect) and Rachel Robinson (Dunham Robinson), the space nods to the past while embracing a fresh, contemporary feel. Guests are welcomed by a 12-seat walnut-wrapped bar, fluted wood paneling, and an original tin ceiling painted deep green. The dining room features exposed brick, marble tables, and a 12-seat private room echoing design details from the original location.

dell’anima is open for dinner daily: 5–11 PM Sunday through Tuesday, 5–12 AM Wednesday and Thursday, and 5–1 AM on Fridays and Saturdays. Reservations are available via Resy. For more, visit dellanima.com and follow @dellanima.
