The Dumbo Improvement District has announced programming for the fourth annual iteration of The Six Foot Platform, presented in partnership with the Brooklyn Arts Council.

On Saturdays from September 7 to October 12, Washington Street will become home to full-day immersive performances that will engage and challenge spectators. At these events, six Brooklyn-based artists (with an additional artist to be announced) will present experimental art and performance on a 6’ by 6’ platform.

Among the specific performances that visitors can expect are a meditative live wood carving musical exploration with Hisayasu Takashio; a mixed media workshop where the public can join Fanny Allié in creating and exhibiting their own art that connects to Dumbo; candid storytelling from participants guided by What Will The Neighbors Say?; an interactive installation from Akshay Bharadwaj and Sunanda Vasudevan that celebrates the Kolam, a cultural motif from South India; and poetry by queer and trans writers, organized by Sarah E. Brooke, against the backdrop of rescued organ pipes that attendees may play themselves.

In the event of inclement weather, a contingency plan will be announced on Instagram, @dumbo_brooklyn.
