Empellón Taqueria, led by Chef and Co-Owner Alex Stupak, has a new location at Waterline Square, a luxury condominium complex overlooking the Hudson River on the Upper West Side. The menu is sticking to the basics. Think tacos, guacamole, seasonal vegetable dishes and queso fundido, a take on cheese fondue.
Diners will also discover fun appetizers and snacks like quail egg sopas, popcorn chicken and celery root seasoned peanuts. Tacos come with a range of toppings, including skirt steak, pastrami, veggie chorizo, shrimp and lamb barbacoa. A new flavor also drops every Tuesday. At least seven different margaritas can be found ranging from the classic to grapefruit and spicy cucumber. There are also palomas and an agave-coconut old fashioned. A selection of wines, including sparkling and rosé varieties, can also be found.
