Essex Pearl Offers Asian-Inspired Seafood Rolls

It may be October, but lobster roll season isn’t over. Chef Daniel Le's DIY Southeast Asian Seafood Rolls -- made with lobster, crab, or shrimp -- are now available five days a week at Essex Pearl. The sandwich kits are available Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. for takeout and delivery via GrubHub.
Each lobster roll includes a generous portion of Maine lobster sourced from Chef Le’s partner Steven Wong of Aquabest, along with respective toppings and sauces, and simple step-by-step directions. The lobster rolls come in three varieties: Essex Pearl with Herb Chimichurri, Pickled Chili, and Fried Shallots; Thailand with Coconut Red Curry, Pickled Green Papaya, and Toasted Coconut; and Vietnamese with Seafood Sauce & Fried Shallots. Regardless of their provenance, each lobster roll kit shares a common second step, drizzling golden melted butter on to the lobster.
Essex Pearl also offers kits for a Crab Salad Roll with galangal, fish sauce, herbs, and coconut flakes, as well as a Shrimp Roll with pickled tomatoes, lettuce, and housemade sambal belacan. All of the seafood rolls are also available for takeout in nonkit form from a counter adjacent to the restaurant.
