Twin Star Orchards in Hudson Valley’s New Paltz, just 90 minutes away from NYC, is on your radar as they celebrate from Friday 9/4 through Monday 9/7 with special events including a Pig Roast, the start of apple-picking season, a kombucha workshop, live music, fresh apple cider and cider doughnuts, and more. The family and dog-friendly property makes for an easy getaway from NYC this fall as it has over 200 acres of apple orchards, a pond, open spaces and outdoor seating for casual dining with wood-fired burgers, Neapolitan pizza and their own award-winning Brooklyn Cider House Cider hard ciders. Their annual Labor Day Pig Roast will take place this Sunday 9/6 from 4pm-7pm with delicious slow roasted pork platters ($17) and sandwiches ($14), both accompanied by housemade coleslaw and sweet Hawaiian buns. Apple picking season starts Friday 9/4 through the beginning of November, visitors can pick different types of sustainably farmed eating apples like Fuji, Cortland, Macoun, Jonagold and more. There is no entry fee to enjoy the orchards and apples are priced by the weight - $10 for a half peck (about 5-6 lbs), $18 for a peck and $30 for a half bushel.
