Gaia, the Mediterranean restaurant located in Herald Square, has introduced a new menu under the direction of Executive Chef Evangelos Ktistakis. With more than 20 years of experience, Chef Ktistakis has worked at top New York restaurants including The Ritz-Carlton’s Atelier, David Burke Townhouse, Public, Double Crown, Okeanos, and Elea.

The updated menu focuses on traditional Mediterranean flavors with high-quality ingredients. Starters include Spinach Pie made with baked spinach, leeks, and feta in house-made phyllo; and Grilled Shrimp with wild Gulf shrimp, frisée salad, radish, and Cara Cara orange. Entrées range from Seafood Orzotto with shrimp, mussels, clams, and saffron orzo, to Short Rib Youvetsi, a braised short rib dish with orzo, potato purée, and rainbow carrots. Other highlights include Bakaliaros, a pan-seared wild cod served with fennel purée and an Assyrtiko-thyme emulsion.

Gaia also offers a two-course prix fixe lunch for $32. Dinner options include a variety of seafood and land-based dishes, along with small plates like Chicken Souvlaki, Keftedes, and Calamari served grilled or fried.

The cocktail program, developed by General Manager Gianni Tarko, features drinks like the Midtown Martini (Grey Goose vodka, fig jam, fresh lime) and Mediterranean Night (Angel’s Envy, Grand Marnier, Mavrodaphne, and orange bitters). Dessert options include Baklava, Chocolate Mousse, and Cheesecake with strawberry coulis.

Set in a historic 1903 building, Gaia features original architectural details, including century-old window glass, 100-year-old floors, and custom chandeliers. The restaurant also offers live entertainment, from DJs to violinists and saxophonists.
