Grand Central Terminal is redefining summer in the city with A Grand Summer—a new lineup of free and ticketed events running from June 21 to July 24. Designed in response to community interest during last year’s Summer Streets, this series brings together fitness, family fun, comedy, and culture at one of NYC’s most iconic landmarks—all as new restaurants prepare to make their debut.
Kicking off on Saturday, June 21, visitors can celebrate the International Day of Yoga with a large-scale event in Vanderbilt Hall from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The events continue with book readings, comedy nights, kids’ programming, and even a “Paint 'n Pour” evening, all set against the stunning architectural backdrop of Grand Central.
Meanwhile, the terminal is experiencing a post-pandemic boom. Nearly 90% of retail spaces are now filled—its highest since 2020—and record-setting train ridership is helping fuel the foot traffic. Metro-North’s on-time performance currently tops 98%, while the LIRR is clocking in at 97%, with May bringing the highest ridership day since the pandemic for both railroads.
Complementing this momentum are three major restaurant openings.
• Tracks Raw Bar & Grill, known for its Penn Station legacy and award-winning seafood, is coming to Grand Central Madison with a sleek new look.
• Palladino’s Steak & Seafood, slated to open in July on the West Balcony, promises upscale dining with dramatic city views, thanks to Chef Sam Hazen and bold Rockwell Group design.
• And San Wei, offering ramen, bao, dumplings, and bubble tea, is set to launch by the end of June in the Dining Concourse.
As David Florio of the MTA put it, “Located in the heart of Midtown, Grand Central is a perfect space to bring people together.” With commuter convenience, record performance, and a jam-packed cultural calendar, summer at Grand Central is officially on track.
Upcoming Highlights:
June 21: International Day of Yoga (11 a.m.–2 p.m.)
June 26: Laugh @ Grand Central with Stand Up NY (6–7 p.m.)
July 19: Kids @ Grand Central with The Rock and Roll Playhouse (11 a.m.–1 p.m.)
July 24: Connect @ Grand Central with Paint 'n Pour (6–8 p.m.)
