Happy Hour in the East Village at Feast

April 23, 2020, 11:53.27 pm ET

Some restaurants are serving up dinner to go, others are serving up drinks. At Feast (102 3rd Ave, 12th St; (212)529-8880) in the East Village they are doing both. The cocktails match the times and come with names like the Quarantiki (rum, pineapple, coconut, Swedish punsch, allspice and absinthe), or Hard Times (gin, compari, rhubarb, grapefruit cordial and Pineau des Charentes). We're told it's similar to a negroni. We tried the Phantom Limb, a mix of mezcal and white rum with hints of peach, strawberry, lavendar elderflower and lime. It's a perfect refresher for Spring and packs a nice punch. All of the drinks are served with a small bag of popcorn (which is extra). Menu items can also be purchased at the window like house-made Ricotta Toast, "Fried Rice" Balls and sandwiches like the angus Sloppy Joe served with purple cole slaw, and a Steak Sandwich with caramelized onions and chipotle mayo.  During our pit stop there were a few people clutching plastic cups outside. Think of it as "happy hour" pandemic-style.
