How to Celebrate National Ice Cream Day

You scream, I scream, we all scream for ice cream day every day, but we struggle not to have too much of a good thing. But with National Ice Cream Day coming on Sunday, July 17, some local eateries are offering items that are too good to resist.

One of the signature dishes at the Magic Hour Rooftop Bar & Lounge at the Moxy Hotel Times Square (485 7th Avenue) is its Strawberry Pink Sundae, made with strawberry gelato, assorted pink toppings, and whipped cream. In honor of the “holiday,” diners can order this sweet treat for only $5 from July 15-17.

If you happen to be exploring Flushing, Queens, make sure to stop by White Noise Coffee Co (41-02 162nd Street) for their homemade soft serves. Available in flavors such as Milk or Black Sesame, these icy swirls can be enjoyed on its own but also as an affogato – when combined with options like Matcha, Tiramisu and Espresso.

Beloved Spanish café La Churerria (284 Mulberry Street) keeps things fresh for ice cream fans with a new churro sundae specials every month! This month’s Mango Sundae features churro, churro bites, custard cream, mango chunks, mango flavored ice cream, topped with whipped cream and mango sauce. In addition, milkshake lovers can choose from chocolate, vanilla, or strawberry varieties topped with whipped cream and two churros. The restaurant also offers Churro Ice Cream Sandwiches with ice cream choices of vanilla, milk chocolate, strawberry or salted caramel

At the recently opened Momoya SoHo (47 Prince Street), Japanese pastry chef Norie Uematsu creates homemade ice cream with various flavors that can be enjoyed as a Coupe Glacee served with mochi. The ice cream also shows up in her specialty desserts such as the Seasonal Parfait (currently using Sakura sorbet and Strawberry Gelato), Mille-Feuille aux Bananes served with Hojicha Rum Raisin Ice Cream, or the Jasmine Tea Brulee served with Kumquat Ice Cream!
