Two traditional Japanese treats are the stars at this small counter inside Chelsea Market led by a woman wearing oversized pink shades and blue hair.

The tight menu includes three types of Kakigori, Japanese shaved ice, in flavors like Matcha, Strawberry and Hojicha, a Japanese green tea that is roasted over charcoal. It’s served with kinako, Kuromitsu red bean, and mochi. Prices range from $12 to $15.

The onigiri, Japanese rice balls, also come in three flavors: Curry Tofu Onigiri with carrots, peas and soy nori; Tuna Mayo Onigiri with kewpie, mustard soy and nori; and Salmon Onigiri with spicy cod roe, Kewpie and soy. The rice balls sell for $5 apiece. Assorted Japanese snacks and drinks are also available.

The counter is run by Maki A Mano, located next door, which is known for its handrolls.
