LUPITO NYONG'O TO STAR IN ''ROMEO Y JULIETA''

Oscar winner Lupito Nyong’o will headline the Public Theater’s bilingual audio play “Romeo y Julieta.” This world premiere production has been adapted from Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” by Saheem Ali and Ricardo Pérez González (based on the Spanish translation by Alfredo Michel Modenessi) and is directed by Ali. The podcast will debut on Thursday, March 18.

The show co-stars Juan Castano as Romeo, and the cast also includes Carlo Alban, Guillermo Diaz, Kevin Herrera, Javier Munoz, Florenica Lozano, Tony Plana and David Zayas.

Nyong’o appeared on Broadway in “Eclipsed,” She won the Academy Award for her performance in “12 Years a Slave,” and her other film credits include “Black Panther,” “Us,” and “Little Monsters.”

In addition, audiences around the globe can also join an online opening night listening party, presented by The Greene Space at WNYC and WQXR, on Thursday, March 18 at 7pm. For this event, Nyong’o, and other cast members will join WNYC’s Rebeca Ibarra for an interactive Q & A to be presented in English and Spanish.
