
Broadway veteran and Emmy Award nominee Lea Michele will begin her run as vaudeville superstar Fanny Brice in the legendary Broadway musical, “Funny Girl,” at the August Wilson Theatre on September 6.
She will star alongside Ramin Karimloo as “Nick Arnstein,” Jared Grimes as “Eddie Ryan” and Tovah Feldshuh as “Mrs. Brice.” In addition, Julie Benko will perform the title role on Thursdays beginning on September 8.
Tony Award winner Michael Mayer directs the production, which features a score by Jule Styne and Bob Merrill. The original book by Isobel Lennart has been revised by Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein.
Michele’s theater credits include “Les Miserables,” “Ragtime” and “Spring Awakening.” She is best known for her portrayal of Rachel Berry on the FOX-TV series “Glee,” during which she performed numerous selections from the “Funny Girl” score.
