Little Island, located in Hudson River Park at Pier 55, has reopened to the public. It has announced the 2022 line-up of ticketed events in The Amph, beginning on June 16. Tickets are currently on sale.
This second summer will feature a new three-week “performance party” called “The Big Mix”, conceived and directed by Tina Landau and featuring such acclaimed performers as Joshua Henry, Peppermint, Faith Prince, Judy Kuhn, Tonya Pinkins and Jaime Lozano.
Also on tap are the Second Annual Music and Dance Festival, co-curated by Torya Beard, Ayodele Casel, and Michael McElroy, featuring such performers as Capthia Jenkins, Phylicia Rashad and Lillias White; a weekend of musical performances by the Arturo O’Farrill and The Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra, an innovative new show by the internationally celebrated Machine de Cirque’ and the Second Annual Storytelling Festival curated by PigPen Theatre Co.
In addition, Little Island will host a variety of free events beginning on June 3, including its “Creative Break” series of art-making activities, concerts by such artists as Alejo & Pancho, Glenn Roth, Julian Muro, and more.
