The nation’s largest Independence Day celebration is back. On Friday, July 4, 2025, the 49th edition of the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks® will once again light up the night sky from the Brooklyn Bridge and four barges on the East River near the Seaport District. This year’s spectacle promises to be an unforgettable summer celebration visible from miles around.
Produced by Macy’s since 1976, the fireworks display is carefully choreographed to a curated musical score, blending light, sound, and color into one of New York City’s most iconic traditions. Public viewing will be available from any area with a clear, unobstructed view of the sky above the lower East River. A city-sponsored lottery for free public viewing tickets will also be announced in the coming weeks.
“Macy's doesn’t just light up the sky – we ignite a shared tradition,” said Will Coss, Executive Producer of Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks. “We create a spectacular event that celebrates joy, unity and togetherness.”
New York City Mayor Eric Adams added, “Each year, this dazzling display lights up our skyline, boosts our economy, and brings vital support to local businesses. As we celebrate 400 years since New York City’s founding, we’re thrilled to welcome the crowds to experience an unforgettable Independence Day.”
This year marks the 49th edition of the fireworks, with Macy’s preparing to celebrate the event’s 50th anniversary in 2026.
