Just steps from Madison Square Park, a new Eastern Mediterranean spot has landed in Nomad—and it’s already shaping up to be one of the city’s top summer spots.

Mama Mezze, the latest from restaurateur Mark Barak (La Pecora Bianca), brings wood-fired cooking, bold flavors, and all-day dining to 1123 Broadway. Created in collaboration with James Beard Award finalist Einat Admony (Taïm, Balaboosta, Moondog HiFi), the menu draws inspiration from across the Mediterranean Sea—offering house-made za’atar bread, colorful spreads, skewers, sandwiches, and shareable plates.

Standouts include baharat-spiced beef hummus, beet baba ghanoush, crispy cauliflower with red pepper tahini, green goddess falafel, and arayes—a grilled pita stuffed with beef kofta. Skewers like honey-harissa jumbo shrimp and adobo-rubbed skirt steak come straight from the wood-fired grill. Larger entrées range from chraime (a spicy North African fish dish) to braised short rib with harissa-date glaze and coffee-rubbed NY strip steak with za’atar chimichurri.

The cocktail list offers Mediterranean-inspired twists, including the Espresso Tahini (vodka, Mr. Black, Foro Amaro, tahini) and a Harissa Margarita with mezcal, Aperol, and Ancho Reyes. A focused wine program highlights bottles from across the region.

Mama Mezze features two expansive outdoor patios with over 100 seats and a 22-seat private dining room, making it one of the most vibrant new al fresco destinations in the city. Inside, Home Studios designed a bright, earthy dining room anchored by a lush citrus tree and layered with hand-painted tiles, plaster walls, and embroidered textiles. It’s a setting built to linger, whether for brunch, lunch, dinner—or all three.
