Mercado Little Spain transformed into a community kitchen
March 20, 2020, 11:06.19 pm ET
Chef Jose Andres, the force behind Mercado Little Spain at Hudson Yards, is transforming some of his restaurants into Community Kitchens to feed people during what he calls these "complicated times." He made the announcement in an online video.
Little Spain along with most of his Washington DC restaurants will offer affordable plates available for takeout purchase. The Little Spain community kitchen is operating out of a side door, staffed by volunteers, from 12-4pm daily. Andres says all employees will receive paid leave and current health benefits for the first two weeks with more updates planned as things evolve.
