A new comedy tradition is taking shape in the heart of New York City. The first-ever NY Laughs Festival is launching June 5–8, 2025, with four days of stand-up, live shows, and food experiences all centered around Union Square. Presented by The Stand Restaurant & Comedy Club, the event aims to celebrate the city’s comedy culture while honoring Union Square’s legacy as NYC’s original theater district.

The festival kicks off with a free outdoor show, Comedy in the Square, on June 5 from 6:00–9:15 PM at Union Square Park’s North Plaza, featuring big names like Chris Redd, Sam Jay, Pete Lee, and Shane Torres. While the outdoor event is free, an RSVP is encouraged to secure a spot. Ticketed performances follow across local venues including The Stand, Irving Plaza, and Gramercy Theater. Highlights include Che’Chella with Michael Che on June 7 at 10 PM and more shows featuring top-tier talent. Full lineup and tickets at nylaughsfest.com.
