Chef Eric Ripert and Paullie Brandt are parting ways (in a good way) on their joint venture, L’Ami Pierre located next door to Ripert’s Le Bernardin. In an Instagram post, Ripert writing, “After one year of collaboration, I am no longer associated with @lamipierreus… wishing best to Pierre Antoine and team…” L’Ami Pierre is known for its “French Fast Food” including pastries, sandwiches, soups and salads available for breakfast and lunch to eat in or take out.

Morgenstern’s and Ernesto’s are teaming up with Heladeria de Ernesto’s where Ice Cream meets Spain. The ice cream is served from a small cart with scoops in Basque flavors like Egg Custard, Cinnamon Black Walnut, Café Bombon, Basque Cheesecake, Chocolate Turron and Brilliante Sorbet. Specialties of the house include Caramel Flan; Tocino del Cielo Sundae with caramel drizzle Chantilly and meringue; and Sandwich de Chocolate with torrijas (similar to French toast) and chocolate ice cream. There are also special offerings in the dining room.

Falansai is hosting Industry Night with special guest chef Victoria Blamey on May 30th. Chef Blamey is known for her use of fresh, seasonal ingredients and a willingness to experiment. Eric Tran, chef/owner of Falansai, and Blamey will present a mix of Asian and Latin flavors with a special 6-course dac biet (special or combo in Vietnamese) dinner ($88pp) with farm fresh veggies and treasures from the sea.

Temperance is offering a Tarot and Wine event described as an evening of “divination and indulgence,” including a private taro reading while sipping on natural wine. The readings are pay what you can on a first come, first served basis on June 4 from 4-7pm.

On Sunday, May 28th at 3pm, Tagmo in the Financial district is offering Mithai and Chai. Mithai is an Indian confection traditionally made with flour, milk, sugar, nuts and ghee. At Tagmo, Chef Surbhi Sanhi offers a guided tasting followed by a DIY Mithai Flight ($20 pp) which is paired with House Chai.

Zillions Pizza is offering Sailors in the city for Fleet Week a special deal, any two slices of pizza from open to close for six bucks. You’ll find it on 42nd Street near Ninth Avenue.
