NYC Stage Veterans Receive Oscar Nominations

New York City theater artists were well represented in the 20 acting nominations for this year’s Academy Awards, which will be presented in Los Angeles on Sunday, March 2.

Nominees include Tony Award winners Cynthia Erivo (“Wicked”), Ralph Fiennes (“Conclave”) and Jeremy Strong (“The Apprentice”), as well as stage veterans Timothee Chalamet (“A Complete Unknown”), Kieran Culkin (“A Real Pain”), Colman Domingo (“Sing Sing”), Ariana Grande (“Wicked”), Edward Norton (“A Complete Unknown”), Isabella Rossellini (“Conclave”) and Sebastian Stan (“The Apprentice”).

In addition, the film version of the Broadway blockbuster “Wicked” received a total of 10 Oscar nominations, including Best Picture and a nod for composer Stephen Schwartz for Best Score. Meanwhile, Tony Award winner Elton John received an Oscar nomination for co-writing the title song of the autobiographical documentary “Never Too Late.”
