Would you like a margarita with that taco. In what could be a major boon for restaurants trying to staye relevant in the age of coronavirus, the New York State Liquor Authority is allowing for limited alchol sales to the public. The SLA's guidelines includes:

For example, a tavern wine licensee may sell beer, wine, cider, mead, and wine product, but not liquor, and a farm winery may sell any New York State labeled wine, beer, cider, mead, or liquor, but not non-New York State products unless it has an on-premises license as well.

Alcoholic beverage sold for off-premises consumption pursuant to this guidance may be sold in any closed and any sealed original container of any size. Provided that:

The sale of each container shall be accompanied by the purchase of food; Sales should be consistent with municipal open container ordinances.

The order still prohibits the sale of alcohol at all licenses on-premesis establishments including restaurants, bars, taverns, clubs, arenas, and catering establishments.

Two restaurants already offering the service include:

Fish Cheeks
Delivery available via Caviar, Grubhub, Seamless and UberEats (12pm-8:30pm daily). Beer (including Thai beers) available for delivery and takeout.

Antica Pesa
Encouraging takeout in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and contactless delivery via Caviar and Grubhub. Delivery menus on both platforms have been expanded to include restaurant favorites like their iconic Spaghetti Cacio e Pepe, along with house-made artisanal products like olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and sundried tomatoes. Alcohol available for delivery with the purchase of food.
