NYC's reopening marred by boarded up shops

Phase 1 of New York City's highly-touted reopening by Mayor de Blasio is nothing to cheer about.  Most of the major shopping areas in the city remain boarded up making it look more like a "Plywood City."  Dogs still guard a razor-wire covered Saks Fifth Avenue. Rockefeller Center is a virtual ghost town. But it's not just ritzy retailers lining Fifth Avenue that are suffering. Shoppers will find stores like Best Buy, Urban Outfitters, North Face, Adidas, Gap in Midtown all boarded up. The entire Meatpacking District (including the Apple Store) is also off limits. Even Modell's across from Gracie Mansion resembles a fortress. Maybe the Mayor should look out of his window to see what's really going on. - Thomas Rafael
