A bold new chapter in New York nightlife has arrived with Obvio, a modern supper club and cocktail bar from Santa Cruz Co. and JF Restaurants. Located at 3 East 28th Street, Obvio blends the glamour of vintage New York with a sleek, cinematic edge. Every detail, from giraffe-print walls to custom glassware and table lamps calibrated for perfect color temperature, is designed by hospitality impresario Juan Santa Cruz. The result is a transportive space where a night out effortlessly evolves—from cocktails and small plates to late night DJ sets and dancing.

At the helm of the kitchen is Chef John Fraser, whose menu favors shareable plates and playful remixes of classics. Tuna sashimi arrives brightened with sun-dried tomato, shrimp-shiso petals get a punch from chipotle aioli, and the Obvio Burger comes stacked with Mary Rose sauce and just enough swagger. There’s also a standout Chicken Sando with aji panca ketchup and a raw bar selection that leans elegant but unfussy—perfect for pairing with the restaurant’s bold cocktail offerings. Dessert brings Buñuelos with dulce de leche and Mojito Panna Cotta with mango creme.

The drinks are where Obvio really takes flight. Beverage Director Amy Racine, recently named Wine Enthusiast’s 2024 Beverage Director of the Year, leads a bar program that celebrates agave spirits in all its expressions. Signature cocktails include the Obvio Martini (Oaxacan gin, blanc vermouth, celery root) and a revival of the Firing Squad, layered with Patron Cristalino, Grand Marnier, and pomegranate cordial. For connoisseurs, the Agave Tray Service offers a curated flight of pechuga, tequila, and mezcal with fresh citrus mixers and kitchen snacks—designed for sipping, savoring, and lingering.

Obvio isn’t just a place to eat and drink—it’s an experience engineered for the modern city night. As the evening progresses, the mood shifts: the lights dim, the DJs start spinning, and dinner naturally blends into late-night revelry. Whether you're there for a cocktail and sashimi, or a full evening that ends on the dance floor, Obvio delivers it all with intention—and a bit of theatrical flair.

Obvio is open Tuesday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to midnight, and Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. Learn more at obvionyc.com.
