Elbow Bread by Zoë Kanan and Court Street Grocers on the Lower East Side is getting a reputation for having some of the best baked goods in New York City. But the one thing we run there for are the mini knishes. These “orbs of deliciousness” are about the size of a meatball with a crunchy crust filled with old school potato knish with ribbons of dill and sauerkraut. They are stop-you-in-your-tracks delicious.

Visitors will also find a divine assortment of breads and pastries like the Sesame Spelt Sourdough loaf which I don’t think you can squeeze one more sesame seed on. The crust is nice and chewy with a soft, pillowy center. Enjoy onion bialys dusted with poppy seeds, light-as-air croissants, black bread slathered with walnut butter and cream cheese, along with challah honey buns, nori chocolate chip cookies and house-made pretzels. All can be enjoyed with assorted coffee drinks.

Follow the rope line to 1 Ludlow Street and Division Street in Manhattan for taste of some of New York City’s best baked goods. For more information, visit www.elbowbread.shop/
