On Saturday, June 14, 2025, the High Line will host Pigeon Fest, a full-day celebration of pigeons, public art, and urban ecology. Taking place from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM along 30th Street and the Spur, the festival honors both National Pigeon Appreciation Day and Iván Argote’s Dinosaur—a 17-foot-tall aluminum pigeon sculpture perched at the Spur. The free event features carnival-style games, family-friendly art workshops, a Pigeon Impersonation Pageant, panel discussions, and a live concert in collaboration with the Birdsong Project.

The festival will also include a Discovery Fair, where more than a dozen organizations will lead hands-on activities and demonstrations focused on birds, migration, and city wildlife. Once celebrated as wartime messengers, pigeons are now often dismissed as urban nuisances. Pigeon Fest invites visitors to reconsider these resilient city dwellers and explore how art, nature, and public space can come together to reshape the way we see the world around us.
