Tony Award nominee Raul Esparza will play Ebenezer Scrooge in Primary Stages’ virtual benefit reading of Charles Dickens’s “A Christmas Carol,” adapted by Theresa Rebeck and Erin Daley and directed by Rebeck. The live reading will now take place on Friday December 18, at 8pm, while a recording of the reading will now be available from Saturday December 19 through Tuesday December 22.
The cast will also include Mary Bacon, Abadi Bacon Leynse, Kimberly Chatterjee. W. Tré Davis, David Mason, Krysta Rodriguez and Matthew Saldivar.
Esparza received Tony nominations for “Speed-the-Plow,” “Company,” “The Homecoming” and “Taboo.” His many other stage credits include “Seared,” “The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui,” “Leap of Faith” and “Tick, Tick, Boom!” He is best known for his work as Rafael Barba on NBC’s “Law & Order: SVU.”
