Robyn Hurder, Ben Vereen Among Chita Rivera Award Winners

The Chita Rivera Awards, honoring the best in dance performance, were awarded on May 19 at the NYU Skirball Center. Laura Bell Bundy, Kerry Butler and Marissa Jaret Winokur emceed the ceremony.
Legendary Broadway and television star Ben Vereen received the Lifetime Achievement Award and David Neumann received the Douglas and Ethel Watt Critics’ Choice Award.
On the Broadway front, the ensemble of “Buena Vista Social Club” was named Best Broadway Ensemble, while the show’s choreographers, Justin Peck and Patricia Delgado won for Outstanding Choreography of a Broadway Show.
In the individual performance category, Robyn Hurder, who plays Ivy Lynn in “Smash,” and Kevin Csolak, who plays Tulsa in “Gypsy,” took home the Outstanding Dancer in a Broadway Show award.
Lastly, Arturo Lyons and Omari Wiles took home a special Off-Broadway Special Recognition award for their choreography for “Cats: The Jellicle Ball.”
