The team behind SMØR is debuting a full-service bakery featuring sourdough loaves, seeded breads, cardamom bun, seasonal danishes, filled-donuts, and more. Co-owners Sebastian Perez and Sebastian Bangsgaard–who both grew up in Denmark–have brought on Baker Rowan Gill (Bien Cuit, Leo) to spearhead the program. The bakery will also service all bread needs for the sister-restaurant SMØR just two doors away.

We have always been inspired by the bakery scene in Copenhagen, and to say we’re excited to finally open our doors is an understatement and we’re extremely grateful to offer up delicious baked goods to the neighborhood,” said co-owner Sebatian Perez. “Our Baker Rowan has been R&D-ing the recipes for months, putting their spin on signature items like our braided cardamom buns.”

The 15-seat bakery also features floor-to-ceiling shelves showcasing a selection of Scandinavian provisions including an expansive offering of tinned fish and mussels from Portugal and Denmark; jams from local purveyors in Brooklyn, as well as England; Acme smoked salmon; Schaller & Weber hot dogs, and more.

SMØR Bakery is located at 437 E 12th Street (between Avenue A and First Avenue), in New York City. The bakery will be open Wednesday through Sunday at 9AM, until sold out. For more information, please visit www.smorbakerynyc.com
