OK, summer may still be months away, but not at Mermaid Inn. The restaurant is shifting its menu to bright summertime eats as a reminder that those warm summer days are not far off.
Oysters are often associated with warm-weather dining, but are actually at their very best in the winter. The colder water makes for better texture and sweeter meat. In addition to offering a rotating selection of curated East and West coast oysters, the Tuna Crudo with jalapeno, avocado, and lime provides a bright burst of flavor, as does the Yellowtail Ceviche with yuzu, pink grapefruit, ancho chili, and toasted garlic.

Mermaid is also offering its popular Fish Tacos with red cabbage, pickled jalapeno and pico de gallo. And for those dreaming of summers out on Long Island, the “Nearly Famous” Lobster Roll will hit the spot with succulent lobster meat tossed lightly in mayonnaise and piled high on a grilled brioche bun.
Summer cocktails are also making an appearance like the The Pink Flamingo with a burst of fruity flavors with gin, strawberry, basil and lemon, and the Tidal Wave with rum, passionfruit, ginger, and lemon for a zinger reminiscent of a tropical vacation.

The Mermaid Inn has three locations in the city - 570 Amsterdam Ave on UWS; 89 MacDougal Street in Greenwich Village, and 227 10th Ave in Chelsea.
