The Flavors of Peru Come Alive at Mikhuy in Park Slope

If you are looking for the tradional flavors of Peru in a friendly atmostphere with all of the foods cooked to order look no further than Mikhuy in Park Slope.

Among the starters are well-known Peruvian dshes like Anticuchos, grilled beef heart marinated in Peruvian spices and served with fried potatoes and Peruvian corn. It's one of the best examples we've found in the city. Other offerings include Causa, mashed potatoes layered with tuna or chicken salad; Papas La Huancaina, boiled potatoes topped with a spicy creamy yellow pepper sauce; and Salchipapas, a fun dished filled with slices of hot dog and French Fries and cream on top.

There are assorted ceviches ranging from Classic with red onion, lime and Peruvian rocoto chili served with sweet potato and corn, to Mixto with shrimp, fish, calamari and mussels, and another version called Leche de Tigre or Tiger's Milk.

Other offerings include Peruvian roasted chicken with papas fritas and salad (quarter, half and whole available); Jalea featuring deep-fried fish, calamari, shrimp and mussels piled high with yucca fries; and Lomo Saltado marinated strips of sauteed beef with onion, cilantro, tomatoes and French fries. Mikhuy also offers a Parillada for two featuring a mix of grilled meats (including T-bone and skirt steak) and sausages.
